  • I was introduced to homeopathy in 2015 while treating my son for an autoimmune disorder. When allopathy failed during his treatment, I went searching for a better solution and homeopathy was that answer. During my son's healing journey, I sought help for my eczema and migraines. By the grace of God, I no longer suffer with eczema or migraines because of homeopathy. I, then, took the leap to begin school for homeopathy so that I may become a homeopathic practitioner and help others.

  • Priscilla Medders is a student practitioner of homeopathy who is completing her clinical hours for certification. She lives in beautiful Northwest Georgia with her husband Cheyenne Medders and their son Chet. She spends her free time daydreaming about the house they’re going to build.

  • Alison began using homeopathy more than 20 years ago when her eldest daughter was teething. Several years later, that child had remarkable success with a classical homeopath after suffering from a severe illness that conventional and functional doctors had been unable to cure. The change in her daughter prompted Alison to attend homeopathy school to understand this health science better. She completed her education with the Nashville School of Homeopathy under Tanya Kell, CCH, RSHom(NA), and was additionally mentored by Kathleen Slonager, RN, DiHom, ADS, AE-C, CCH, and David Kempson, DipHom. Alison is an enthusiastic educator, and runs the East Tennessee Classical Homeopathy Study Group to help home users utilize homeopathy safely and effectively. Alison is open and direct, compassionate and engaged. She especially enjoys working with diligent clients who are motivated and conscientious. Alison is also a homeschooling mother of 4, and a homesteader who loves tending to her chickens, quail, and sheep.

Work With Us

Acute Consultation

When you are feeling under the weather, or have an injury, acute care can help restore you to your natural healthy state. Colds, flus, and stomach bugs are all examples of acute illness, and injuries from car accidents, sprains, and concussions are also acute. If you’ve suffered less than three weeks from the same trouble, it’s likely acute.

Some illnesses may seem to be acute illnesses, but are actually an extension of a chronic state; if this is the case, your practitioner will discuss scheduling a chronic consultation. Use the link below to complete a submission form and one of our practitioners will in touch with you shortly.

Chronic Consultation

Sometimes referred to as ‘constitutional’ care, chronic illnesses can include systemic issues like thyroid or reproductive troubles, as well as mental struggles like depression and anxiety, along with physical ailments such as arthritis and eczema. If the suffering you experience has gone on for more than three weeks, or tends to recur, it’s best to seek chronic care. If you’re not sure, just reach out to The Healing Guild – we will be happy to get you the consult you need! Use the link below to complete a submission form, and one of our practitioners will in touch with you shortly.

  • Homeopathy differs from conventional medicine in several ways, including how symptoms are defined, how “medicines” are  chosen, how much “medicine” is given, and cost.

Homeopathy regards symptoms as the body’s healthy  attempt to restore balance. A homeopathic practitioner chooses a remedy that supports, not suppresses,  symptoms.

Homeopathy is based on a rule of nature called  the Law of Similars: a substance  that can cause symptoms in a healthy person can help restore health  to a person suffering similar symptoms. For instance, when you  peel an onion, your eyes burn, itch, and water. You might also have sneezing and runny nose. During a cold or allergy attack, Allium cepa,  a homeopathic remedy derived from red onion, can help your body heal  itself from runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Conventional medicine  uses antihistamines to dry up (suppress) runny nose and watery eyes,  and the medication often causes drowsiness and constipation.

Second, homeopathy recognizes that each person exhibits sickness in a unique and slightly different way. That is why two  people with the same illness will not necessarily receive the same  homeopathic remedy. A homeopathic practitioner chooses a remedy that  matches the unique symptom profile of the individual. For example, a  person with upset stomach who is chilly and not thirsty would receive a  different remedy than someone with upset stomach who is hot, sweaty, and  craves water. This practice is known as Totality of Symptoms, an  important homeopathic principle. Conventional medicine prescribes  treatments based on a diagnosis, not according to their individual symptoms.

With homeopathy, a person takes just enough of a  homeopathic remedy to stimulate their body’s healing response. When this  occurs, the person stops taking the remedy, and the body will continue  to heal itself. This guiding principle is known as Minimum  Dose. Conventional medicine seeks to control illness through the  continued and regular use of medications; if the medicine is withdrawn,  the person’s symptoms may return.

Finally, homeopathic remedies are less expensive than  conventional medicines, costing on average $8–$10 for a bottle that  contains multiple doses. Sometimes only a single dose of a remedy is  needed to help the body restore health. Remedies have an extended shelf  life, and each may be used for several different conditions.

  • Symptoms are the language of disease — the body’s attempt to balance  itself. Without symptoms, a person could have a potentially life  threatening illness with no way of identifying it.

Many conventional drugs try to inhibit and suppress symptoms — sometimes leading to more serious illness in the process.

Homeopathy does not seek to remove or suppress symptoms; rather, it removes the underlying cause of the symptoms. This is  why a homeopath will work toward understanding the whole person —  including their body, mind and emotional state — before recommending a  remedy.

  • No, but I have a remedy for you when you have a cold! It’s a very  important distinction.

Homeopathy is always focused on the individual.  Why? Because no two people ever experience something the exact same way.  The diagnosis of a cold means there’s some kind of snotty something going on with you. But think of all the colds you’ve had in your life and consider how they’ve differed. Sometimes your eyes burn and water. Sometimes it’s your nose that burns and waters! Sometimes you’re  stuffed up and can’t get any air in at all. Sometimes your nose is  clear, it’s just pouring! Sometimes you have a cough, or a sore throat;  sometimes you don’t. Sometimes you’re completely wiped out and drained. Sometimes you feel fine, it’s just that your nose won’t stop running and  you have a terrific headache. Every cold is experienced differently by  every person and that’s why every remedy selected by a homeopath is  carefully selected for you, based on your experience of your symptoms.

  • Homeopathic remedies cost on average $8–$10 for a bottle that  contains multiple doses. Sometimes only a single dose of a remedy is  needed to help the body restore health. Remedies have an extended shelf  life and each may be used for several different conditions.

  • Homeopathic remedies are considered inherently safe, are FDA-regulated, non-drowsy,  non habit-forming, and non-toxic. The remedies also have no known side  effects and no known drug interactions.

  • No. While those things can all be very useful, they are in fact allopathic in nature! (Allopathic medicine uses substances with opposite effects to symptoms.) If you have a headache, you take herbs to stop the pain. If you have a burn, you put an essential oil on to stop the burn. If you have a fungal infection, you can use coconut oil as an antifungal and tea tree as a biocide. All of these are considered natural treatments, but all are allopathic in function, not homeopathic.

A homeopath recommends a remedy with symptoms which are similar to the difficulties you’re experiencing right now. For example, many burns match the symptoms of Cantharis, especially if blistering is present. The remedy is made from an infinitesimal dilution of the material substance Cantharidian (derived from the blister beetle or Spanish fly). Cantharidian in a material dose is caustic and produces blistering burns, and this symptom picture matches what happens when you spill hot oil on your hand – blistering, painful burns. Rather than applying opposing force to the ailment and suppressing the reaction, homeopathy presents an infinitesimal dose of the substance – an echo of the same symptoms, creating a reaction by our natural healing abilities to clear that symptom echo, and in so doing, clearing the original symptoms (the pain and blisters) as well.

  • No, I don’t know, and the name of the diagnosis isn’t important for a homeopath. We need to know how you are experiencing your symptoms – where you feel them, what they feel like, how long they last, etc. We also need to know what else is going on at the same time – for example, usually I love ice water but right now I just can’t stand it and I want something hot. It’s your experience as a whole that matters in homeopathy, not the name given to an illness.

  • Actually, that kind of detail matters very much and can be the key to finding the right remedy! Anything that is strange, rare, or peculiar is important to the homeopath. A runny nose isn’t necessarily a helpful symptom, but if you nose starts running every morning at 4 am and stops as soon as you get out of bed – that’s pretty peculiar, and very helpful!

  • No. Homeopathy is based on several laws, one of which is the Law of Minimum Dose. Your homeopath will carefully assess your case and closely follow your progress to ensure adherence to this important principle.

  • No. One really means just one pellet, one time. That is often all it takes for the healing process to begin.

  • The homeopathic remedy is not creating any chemical changes; it’s not aspirin. Once you take the remedy, your own natural, inherent healing abilities take over. When we light a fire, only one match is required. Continuing to light a fire which is already lit doesn’t make the fire burn hotter or faster- but you could get burned in the process! Similarly, continual redosing may confound progress and muddy the case. Trust your healing abilities and pay attention to the changes that arise in the hours after remedy. It can take some time to see the changes, especially in chronic cases.

  • While it’s true that homeopathy has no toxic side effects, it’s incorrect to say that they can cause no harm. Repeatedly dosing remedies for a short amount of time can create what is known as the homeopathic aggravation – the intensifying of symptoms. It can even cause the appearance of new symptoms related to the remedy’s symptom picture. Typically, once dosing is stopped, the aggravation will resolve in a relatively short amount of time. However, if remedies are continually taken without regard for the minimum dose, engrafting of disease can occur – the symptoms in the remedy become your symptoms. When that happens, the case becomes very tricky. Please, follow the guidelines from your homeopath!

Mistakes are fine – sometimes miscommunications happen. But continual refusal to follow the suggestions indicate that our working relationship has come to an end.

  • No. Millions of people have used homeopathy to address their health issues, and are very satisfied that it’s worked for them. Many, many studies demonstrate the efficacy of homeopathy on a variety of health issues. You don’t have to believe in homeopathy for it to work. Homeopathy works for everyone - little kids, newborns, animals, and even plants.
